Local SEO: appearing in searches in Sfax

A well-maintained Google profile often returns more than an ad campaign. The settings that really matter for a company based in Tunisia.

In short

Local search visibility rests on three pillars: a complete and active Google business profile, perfect consistency of contact details across the web, and site pages genuinely anchored in the territory. The profile needs the right primary category, accurate hours, recent photos and replies to reviews. Consistency means the name, address and phone number are written identically everywhere, punctuation included. On the site, a service page mentioning the city in its title, the address in the footer and valid local-organisation structured data sends a clear signal. Customer reviews remain the most underused factor among Tunisian companies, especially the replies to them, which are read by prospects and by the engine alike. Duplicating a page per city with identical text produces the opposite effect and degrades the whole domain.

The reflex many companies lack

A company based in Sfax, Tunis or Sousse captures real proximity demand: "web agency Sfax", "app developer Tunisia", "marketing agency near me". These searches carry strong commercial intent and far weaker competition than generic queries.

Yet the business profile is often incomplete, with no recent photo and no replies to reviews.

The settings that matter on the profile

The primary category. The single most decisive setting. Pick the most precise, not the broadest.

Real opening hours. Wrong hours produce negative reviews. Exceptional closures must be declared.

Photos. Three-year-old photos signal uncertain activity. A monthly update is enough.

Reviews, and above all replies. Reply to every review, negative included, factually and briefly.

Consistency of contact details

Name, address and phone number must be strictly identical everywhere: site, Google profile, directories, social networks, email signatures. "SARL Azur Digital" and "Azur Digital" are two different entities to an engine.

That consistency is also what allows AI answer engines to identify the company with certainty.

What the site must carry

  • One page per genuinely served area, with original content — never duplicated by city.
  • The full address in the footer of every page.
  • Valid local-organisation structured data.
  • Case studies mentioning client locations.

The most common mistake

Creating thirty "web agency + city" pages with the same text. Engines detect duplication immediately and the operation degrades the whole domain.

Minimum monitoring

Each month, record calls and direction requests from the profile, plus positions on five local queries. Our SEO and GEO practice includes this tracking.
