Building an editorial line that lasts

Publishing at random exhausts the team and establishes nothing. An editorial line is decided once, then unrolled. Here is how we build one.

In short

An editorial line defines what a brand talks about, to whom, in what tone and at what frequency. It fits on one page and answers four questions: which subjects are legitimate for us, which promise each publication must serve, which recurring formats structure the calendar, and what we will never publish. Without that frame, every publication becomes a decision again, which exhausts the team and produces a blurred image. With it, production becomes mechanical: formats repeat, subjects follow one another, and the brand becomes recognisable before the logo even appears. Regularity is worth more than volume: four publications a month held for a year establish a brand, while fifteen in January followed by silence until May establish nothing at all.

The symptom everyone knows

On Monday morning, someone asks "what do we post this week?". That is the sign there is no editorial line. Every publication becomes a decision, therefore a negotiation, therefore a delay.

The four decisions to take once

What are we entitled to talk about? Legitimacy comes from what you actually do. Legitimate subjects are the ones your clients raise with you.

Which promise does each publication serve? Inform, prove, reassure, recruit. A publication serving none of these serves nothing.

Which recurring formats? Three or four formats that return every month: the client case, behind the scenes on a project, the answer to a frequent question, a point of view on a trade practice. The calendar then fills itself.

What do we never publish? Political subjects, borrowed content without credit, unverifiable figures. Writing the prohibitions avoids emergency arbitration.

Regularity, not volume

Four publications a month held for a year establish a brand. Fifteen in January then nothing until May establish nothing. That is why our social media packs start at four monthly publications with sponsored campaigns.

The production system

An editorial line unrolls if the material exists. We organise collection upstream: site photos taken by the teams, questions logged by sales, figures extracted from finished projects. That material is then shaped, with AI helping on repurposing, never on substance.

Repurposing without repeating

One subject yields an article, three posts, a vertical video and a newsletter. Each medium reaches different people at different moments.

What is measured

Not likes. Conversations opened, questions received in private messages, and the share of social visitors reaching a service page. See our method for measuring return.
