What is an AI agent as a service?

An AI agent as a service is hosted, monitored and improved every month by its provider. Definition, what is included, who it suits and how it compares with a one-off build.

In short

An AI agent as a service is a conversational assistant that a provider designs, hosts, monitors and improves for you on a monthly subscription. You are not buying software delivered once; you are buying an agent that keeps working and keeps getting better. It answers your customers on WhatsApp, Messenger or your website, in French, Arabic and Tunisian derja, and passes anything outside its scope to your team. Every month the provider reviews conversations, fixes mistakes, updates the agent's information and sends you a report. The model suits businesses that want a reliable agent without hiring technical staff. A one-off project is the better choice when your own team can maintain the tool. Before signing, check three things: who pays for model and messaging usage, who owns the data, and how you get everything back if the contract ends.

What does "AI agent as a service" mean?

It is a conversational agent delivered as an ongoing service rather than as finished software. The provider builds it, hosts it, connects it to your channels and tools, and runs it day to day.

The idea starts from a plain fact: an AI agent is never finished. Your prices change, your offers move, your customers ask new questions. An agent nobody updates starts giving wrong answers, and nobody notices.

How does the subscription work month to month?

The service follows a predictable cycle. Here is how it runs in our AI agents as a service offer.

  1. Scoping. Agree on the scope, the channels and the information the agent may use.
  2. Launch. Configure the agent, connect it to WhatsApp, Messenger or the website, and test it on real conversations.
  3. Continuous monitoring. Hosting, uptime and technical errors are watched.
  4. Monthly review. A sample of conversations is read: wrong answers, missed handovers, unanswered questions.
  5. Improvement. The agent's information is corrected and extended, its instructions adjusted.
  6. Report. You receive the month's metrics and a list of changes made.

That cycle is what separates a subscription from renting software. You pay for an outcome that holds over time.

What is included, and what is not?

A serious subscription covers hosting, monitoring, conversation review, content updates and handover to your team. The agent replies in French, Arabic and Tunisian derja, and hands over to a person with a summary of the exchange.

Two items must be settled in writing because they vary with usage: AI model consumption, billed by volume by model vendors, and Meta's charges for certain WhatsApp messages. They can sit inside a quota or be passed through; what matters is knowing which, and what happens above the limit.

Not sure where to start? Tell us about your business and we will tell you whether a subscription makes sense.

Subscription or one-off project: which should you choose?

Both have their place. The deciding question is who will keep the agent alive after launch.

If you already have a technical team, custom AI integration may fit better. We compare the routes in n8n, AI agent or custom development.

Who is it for?

It suits businesses that receive many repetitive messages and have nobody technical to look after an agent: shops, clinics, real estate agencies, training centres and online stores.

It suits less well organisations whose requests are all unique, or whose message volume stays low. There, a good FAQ page and simple request automation often do the job.

Who owns what when the contract ends?

Ask this before signing. Conversations and customer data are yours. So is the information you gave the agent, such as product sheets and procedures.

The contract should provide for export in a readable format and state that the WhatsApp number stays attached to your own Meta business account. Without those clauses, switching provider means starting over.

How do you know the subscription delivers?

Read the monthly report. It should show time to first reply, share of requests solved without a human, handover rate, errors found and fixes made. A report that only counts messages proves nothing.
