How do you launch a SaaS platform from Tunisia?
Steps, multi-tenant architecture, collecting subscriptions in Tunisia and keeping AI costs under control: how to launch a SaaS, illustrated by AzurLab and SkanLink.

Founder and managing director
In short
Launching a SaaS platform from Tunisia follows six steps: validate a problem customers already pay to solve, cut the first version down to the essentials, design a multi-tenant architecture where each account sees only its own data, set up subscription billing, polish onboarding, then measure usage to decide what comes next. To collect payments in dinars, local gateways such as Konnect, Flouci and ClicToPay exist; their terms, recurring billing in particular, must be checked case by case. Selling abroad requires a legal and banking setup prepared with an accountant. AI adds value but also a variable cost on every use, so you need per-customer quotas, cost tracking per feature and the right model for each task. AzurLab, an AI-augmented CRM, and SkanLink, a digital business card platform, are two products we built and run with this method.

What changes between SaaS and delivered software?
Delivered software is installed once for one client. A SaaS is a single online platform used by many customers who pay a subscription and receive updates continuously.
That model changes everything else. The platform must keep each customer's data strictly apart, collect recurring payments, onboard new users without human help and stay available at all times. Code is only part of the job; operations matter just as much.
What are the steps to launch a SaaS platform?
This is the order we follow for our own products and for clients.
- Validate the problem. Find businesses already paying to solve it, with spreadsheets, a contractor or ill-fitting foreign software. If nobody pays today, nobody will subscribe tomorrow.
- Shrink the first version. Keep the path that delivers the core value and postpone the rest.
- Design for multiple tenants from day one. It is the hardest decision to fix later.
- Set up billing. Plans, trial, invoices and reminders must run without manual work.
- Polish onboarding. A new user should get a useful result in their first session.
- Measure to decide. Track features actually used, drop-offs and support requests, then prioritise on facts.

What does multi-tenant mean, and why does it matter?
A multi-tenant platform serves many companies with one application. Each company has its own space and must never see another's data.
In practice, every record belongs to a tenant and every query is filtered by it, ideally enforced at database level too. Add roles and permissions inside each space, per-customer data export and tested backups. A leak between two customers is the incident that can kill a SaaS, so isolation is tested with every release.
How do you collect subscriptions from Tunisia?
For Tunisian customers paying in dinars, local gateways such as Konnect, Flouci and ClicToPay accept bank cards and, depending on the provider, other payment methods. Fees, payout times and automatic recurring charges vary, so ask each provider directly before choosing.
If recurring charges are not available, the platform can issue an invoice at each renewal with a payment link, automatic reminders and gradual suspension for unpaid accounts. For customers abroad, international payment platforms are not open to every company established in Tunisia, and foreign exchange rules apply: plan the setup with your bank and accountant before writing any payment code.

How do you add AI without losing control of costs?
Every AI feature costs money each time it runs, billed by the model vendor according to the volume of text processed. In a SaaS that cost grows with success: a very active customer can cost more than they pay if nothing is planned.
Five safeguards prevent that:
- a usage quota per customer, tied to their plan, with an alert before the limit;
- cost tracking per feature, so you know what each function really costs;
- the right model for each task: a light model to classify or summarise, a stronger one only where it helps;
- reusing results when the same request comes back;
- a kill switch to turn off an AI feature without stopping the platform.

What do AzurLab and SkanLink show?
We apply this method to our own products, in production.
| Platform | What it does | AI features | What it proves |
|---|---|---|---|
| AzurLab | CRM for leads, opportunities and campaigns | Assistant, analyses, email drafting, automations | Separate client spaces, role-based access, AI quotas |
| SkanLink | Digital business cards shared by QR code and NFC | Smart card scan, assistant | Self-service sign-up, subscriptions, mobile use |
AzurLab is the base of what we call our CRM platform factory: a proven core we adapt to a client's trade instead of starting from scratch. An agentic version, where the assistant can chain actions, is on the way. More projects are in our portfolio.
Where should you start this week?
Write in one sentence the problem your platform solves, and list five companies ready to pay for it. If that list is hard to fill, that is the work to do before any development.
If it holds, let us talk architecture and AI through our AI platforms and custom SaaS practice. To add a conversational agent to your product, read what an AI agent as a service is.
